The Jatiya Sangsad has rejected a private decision-making proposal to increase the age of entry into government service from 30 years to 35 years.

Today, Independent MP Rezaul Karim brought the decision. His proposal was rejected in the voice vote.

In view of the proposal of Rezaul Karim, State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said in the parliament that the government’s age and the age limit of retirement, at present considering it the government is logical. Rezaul Karim, in his speech, proposed to increase the age of entry into the service, said that the age of entry into 155 countries in 192 countries is 55 years and somewhere up to 59 years. সরকারি চাকরিতে প্রবেশে বয়সসীমা ৩০ বছর থেকে বাড়িয়ে ৩৫ বছর করার একটি বেসরকারি সিদ্ধান্ত প্রস্তাব প্রত্যাখ্যান করেছে জাতীয় সংসদ।

আজ বৃহস্পতিবার স্বতন্ত্র সাংসদ রেজাউল করিম ওই সিদ্ধান্ত প্রস্তাবটি এনেছিলেন। কণ্ঠভোটে তাঁর প্রস্তাবটি প্রত্যাখ্যাত হয়।

রেজাউল করিমের প্রস্তাবের পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে জনপ্রশাসন প্রতিমন্ত্রী ফরহাদ হোসেন সংসদে বলেন, বর্তমানে সরকারি চাকরিতে প্রবেশ ও অবসরের যে বয়সসীমা, সবদিক বিবেচনায় সেটাকে সরকার যৌক্তিক বলে মনে করছে। স্বাধীনতার পর প্রেক্ষাপট বিবেচনায় চাকরিতে প্রবেশে বয়সসীমা ২৫ থেকে ২৭ ও পরবর্তীতে ৩০ করা হয়। এখন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়গুলোতে সেশনজট নেই। ২৩ বছর বয়সে শিক্ষার্থীরা স্নাতকোত্তর ডিগ্রি পাচ্ছেন। ছয়-সাত বছর চাকরির প্রস্তুতির জন্য সময় পাচ্ছেন। তা ছাড়া চাকরিতে প্রবেশের বয়স ৩৫ করা হলে পেনশন সংক্রান্ত জটিলতা তৈরি হবে।

এসব বিবেচনায় নিয়ে প্রতিমন্ত্রী স্বতন্ত্র সাংসদ রেজাউল করিমকে তাঁর প্রস্তাব প্রত্যাহার করে নেওয়ার অনুরোধ করেন। কিন্তু তিনি প্রস্তাবটি প্রত্যাহার করবেন না বলে সংসদকে জানান। পরে প্রস্তাবটি কণ্ঠভোটে দেওয়া হয়। কণ্ঠভোটে তাঁর প্রস্তাবটি প্রত্যাখ্যাত হয়।

চাকরিতে প্রবেশের বয়স বাড়ানোর প্রস্তাব এনে রেজাউল করিম তাঁর বক্তব্যে বলেন, বিশ্বের ১৯২টি দেশের মধ্যে ১৫৫টি দেশে চাকরিতে প্রবেশের বয়স ৫৫ বছর কোথাও কোথাও ৫৯ বছর পর্যন্ত। দেশে এখন শিক্ষিত বেকার ২৮ লাখের বেশি। শিক্ষিত বেকার পরিবারের জন্য বোঝা। শিক্ষার্থীরা সরকারি চাকরিতে কোটা সংস্কারের জন্য আন্দোলন করেছিল। তাঁদের সে সময় রাজাকার, শিবির, জঙ্গি বানানোর চেষ্টা হয়েছিল। এখন চাকরিতে প্রবেশের বয়স বাড়ানোর জন্য আন্দোলন করছে। চাকরি না পেয়ে অনেক যুবক মাদক, ছিনতাই ও অন্যান্য সামাজিক অপরাধমূলক কর্মকাণ্ডে জড়িয়ে পড়ছে। শিক্ষার্থীদের ভবিষ্যতের কথা চিন্তা করে চাকরিতে প্রবেশের বয়স ৩৫ বছর করা উচিত হবে।
